Apple usually features itself with revelutionary innovation, but based on the recently released products including iPhone5 and iPand Mini, there is no much satisfying results, resulting in the market shares decrease at some extent. Personally, I think the maintain of dominate market shares largely comes from the loyalty of the App fans and it is the recently most satisfying product amont the Tablet products; but if Apple retains the high price and no revolutionary innovation for the product, the market shares will be seized by the cheaper products of Android and Amazon and so forth.

Apple needs to focus more on innovation and look for next solution to customer need. With innovation, they may be able to retain thier market share and healthy profit margin. Apple should not worry much about follower.

I heard some people feedback that despite the price if the mini iPad, the display is not really satisfactory as it is not retina display. Check the display carefully before you buy.

There's been a lot of debate about the pricing for the iPad Mini, which I think is interesting. Apple is still commanding a premium price but is moving closer to the Kindles and Nooks. I think that the drop in Apple's units sold is definitely a wait and see on the new products. But I wonder if customers are really seeing some of the alternatives that are coming out...there are a lot of good tablets out there for the money.

Rebate/discounting is certainly a factor in the reported sales numbers for tablet PCs. Apple has a clear lead in terms of market acceptance; consumers seem to overwhelming prefer the iPad to the competing devices. Even when the tablets appear equally matched, the Apple mystique often wins over the buyer. That is, until somebody shows clearly the pricing differentials, which is in my opinon quite substantial.

Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google, Asus and even Samsung understand they have to find a different way to win and that route goes through lower pricing.

In the UK Samsung is offering £50 rebate on their Tab2 which means it can be had for about £220. This compares quite favourably to the Ipad 2 at £300.  This type of discounting could also be affecting the stats.
