With the kind of miniaturization that has taken the semicondutor industry from micrometer scale to nanometer scale has made most of the products  of today unrepairableand totally useless once a fault gets developed into them.

It is difficult for the design engineers to conceptualise a prodcut which can be repaired or its parts can be segragated and sold when it stops serving its original purpose.

MEMS has brought even miniaturization in the mechanical systems.

"Don't try to boil the ocean..."

"Aim first for the low-hanging fruit"

I love that kind of advice. I wish I could meet Mr. Stanvick in person.

Naturally he's right, but I just love mixing images.

Rich, There's a poet hiding somewhere inside you. Let it out. We may be thrilled or appalled but we certainly will be entertained!

"There's a poet hiding somewhere inside you"

There's a reason why it's hiding.

@Rich...I might have passed over a few words to default to the metaphors, then shook them rather than stirred. I bear the blame for putting them all in one graff. My bad :-)

You're an excellent writer. There is excellent substance in the articles (blogs) on EBN. Kidding around so much is a disease I have, but, speaking seriously, I admire the work of the pros around here. Thanks for doing such a great job.

Rich: you hit the nail on the head. You also hit it out of the ballpark. :-)

I'm more likely to hit the hay, or hit the road, if I can get better back support that way.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions? Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
