Facebook released its earning report, and it was a little better than what analysts had expected. Should we expect Facebook to continue to improve? what will make people start believing again?

@hm: I have seen and read up on the Google situation and the error was due to a financial reproting company that released the report early. It does bring up an interesting issue on third-parties, which blogger Jennifer Baljko brough up a few weeks ago. Third-party data, for example, might not be up to date and in this case a third party made an error that cost Google billions. There will no doubt be some kind of lawsuit (as usual) and probably a lot of bad press for the reporting compnay, named Donnolly.

I think it is shocking that companies have to tolerate billions wiped off their valuations due to stupid computer glitches.  I also think we are in a crazy world where extreme market volatility is the norm.  I wish we'd get back to more basic fundamentals and value companies on real worth and not perceived worth.  Now I know this type of talk is archaic so I will shut up and get back to work.

These stories may be little more intricate. We do not know real motives. But it is big loss for Google and its share holder. It is not fair to Google.

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions?
