Carolyn, I hope that in future technology may further change by the widely adoption of 3D/4D/5D printing technology.  Printing a PCB along with associated components can be happen.

This is totally a new concept towards manufacturing. Since components are not produced in very huge amount, energy are not much wasted and supply chain management will become more and more critical.
