I heard this young man speak at a recent meeting of the Electronic Component Industry Association (ECIA) executives meeting which was held in October. It was a wonderful story for a bunch of reasons. It's no suprise that there were people clamoring for this fellow's resume and contact information. He's sure to be a force in the industry.

Distributors help

I learned about the robotics club mentioned that a lot of distributors donate parts packages to the group to help them learn. What other ways have you heard the electronics industry supporting its own? I'd love to hear about them.

This is wonderful work. I hope it expands futher.

I have also seen similar activity at University of Victoria, BC. They invite the person in need for special needs and custom design the system. It takes a lot of effort and money. They work with other cities and universities. They do this work sincelast one decade or more.

@Eldredge, when asked what he wanted to do with his life, he said he wanted to start his own electric wheelchair company to sell to those who could afford to pay to have a chair made specifically to their requirements, and to keep his charity as an ongoing shadowing company to help people who couldn't afford it. That's thinking ahead!

@Hailey - What really impresses me is that he found enough personal inspiration to fuel both his academic success and hsi charity efforts. As you say, he is thinking ahead!

@Eldredge, yes! and his personal inspiration also inspired other young people who are now working with him. Having a drive to a personal goal is one thing...getting others on board in a useful way is a great success!
