Hailey, this is quite interesting. And I guess they will need some form of advanced processor to handle so much sensor signals.

@hailey: Nature designs can truly be useful even in technology. What appeals to me more is the marketing benefits of such a technology. The technology can be adopted anywhere and this is where the brilliance of the technology lies.

I think the concept of e-whiskers is nice, but not all unforeseen. The fact that it can be used in many fields actually increases its efficiency. If such e-whiskers are on ur floor, and each of these whiskers know ur touch, they can probably raise an alarm if somebody breaks in the house.

@Hailey - One of the benefits of looking to nature to inspire technology is steeped in the fact that the technology itself has already been proven to work  - the trick is in th implementation.

@Hailey - I am interested in characterizing the flow dynamics in a mid-range vacuum deposition process. It sounds like the sensitivity of this technology is capable of performing the task.

Will this be cheap enough to replace all other sensors in the systems? It seems this, if deployed in large quantities,  can be used to detect all kind of things like motion, movement, etc.
