@Jacob & @nimantha.d: Burger King Approach refers to Burger King's long running advertising campaign where Burger King offered to their customers the opportunity to have it 'your way.' The Burger King approach in the context of this article means a custom or specialized solution rather than a one size fits all.

@_HM, the jingle went "Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us." Here's the commercial:

_HM, the discussion is around whether electronics OEMs would rather have it right away (AMazon) or have it their way (Burger King). Delivery times are always going to be important but today's OEMs want more...they want products matched to their specific needs.

@eldridge: Yes and that is because the customers do hold the bargaining power and there are loads of competitors available. So you cannot say NO to what the customers bargain

@nimantha.d - In general, that is probably true. There are some suppliers who are overbooked, and therefore can afford to say 'No'.  (Currently I'm not in that position!)

@eldredge, teh number of suppliers who can afford to say NO is fairly small....You are in good company.

@Hailey - In the supply chain, it's probably better to be a little 'hungry' than to become complacent.

"Ever since it pioneered the virtual-storefront revolution, Amazon.com has often been cited as the gold standard for fast and cost-effective product delivery. Though there is no doubt that the "Amazonification" of fulfillment has changed expectations of customers in all channels,'

You are right DAVID. Same day delivery at down to earth shipping charges ensures speedy delivery at a very nominal price. Such offerings from Amazon are a role model for all other online ecommerce sites and customers are looking for such commitments from other vendors too.

I reckon one size never filts all so segmentization is required to maximize customter satisfaction and profit. Some people want cheap at any cost ...sorry), ohter will pay whatever it takes for personalization.  If possible larger companies should try to serve all needs if possible.
