While Amazon's use of technology is highly apparent, iKEA, Costco and Home Depot also depend on an array of logistics technologies, which may not be quite as obvious, to successfully compete. Anticipating and inventorying in pace with evolving customer demand isn't a new concept. Many retailers successfully applied it decades ago. US clothing retailer Mervyn's tracked cosumer buying trends geographically and moved merchandise as demand arrived. Certainly there are many others currently.
