Nemos,

Simple answers to your question here,

"
I will answer your questions with a question: why a large part of western industrygoes to China and built factories ?"

1)Super-cheap and an unending pool of  labor.

2)Lax pollution controls

3)Promise of a rapidly growing market.

4)Zero Red Tape, especially if you are willing to grease the right palms.

5)An undervalued currency.

6)Greed-Politicans as well as Senior MNC execs.

Unfortunately today Reasons 1 to 4 no longer exist, which is why most Western MNCs are now hesistant to build more manufacturing in China today.

Regards

Ashish.

"My question is more on the lines of why should they get it for free???
What have the Chinese done to deserve this act of Generosity from Western MNCs?"

I will answer your questions with a question: why a large part of western industry goes to China and built factories?

Or lets say something else what dramatically changes will occur to our history route if we had previously limited access to Knowledge.

Why should they get it for Free???

The Poll was quite decisive (a clear&strong majority voted No).

My question is more on the lines of why should they get it for free???

What have the Chinese done to deserve this act of Generosity from Western MNCs?

Have they treated Western companies (& their execs)really-really well and especially their IP?

Are they assuring Western companies of a steadily growing market?

The answers to all these companies are in the NEGATIVE.

So why should they get this level of support from MNCs?

Its good to know I am not the only person in this eminent group of Supply Chain execs who feels like this.

Regards

Ashish.

O yah! I voted "no" because the umblical chord of the westerners are not tied to China. I do not understand what is so spectacular about such a merger or acquisition. This is how we end up sourcing the strength of this nation under the pretense of cheap labor - fat gain! I am sorry.. it is not the hoo boy issue but it calls for careful consideration.

Nope, I don't mean that.  I'm talking about selling the fruits of my labors, instead of my means of making a living.

I voted no, for a simple truth, China too would not allow foreign investors free reign in their country. I know that it may sound hypocritical. China does not and will not trust anybody.
