186.6 million units it is a huge number. Although some of the electronic devices is out of market and the lcd manufactures will lose some sales because of that reason,  we have plenty of new devices that are coming.

That definitely is a high amount, and that's just for a month. It makes you wonder what happens to all of the older retired electronics that these replace. How well is the world recycling these products?

How well ? I think there is a huge gap in this sector because most of the companies is not responsible for its products after the sale. Furthermore,, it depends from the country and what recycle policy applies in general. You can imagine what is happening to developing countries......

Good to see some increase in sale of at least small displays. Most of the time if you notice displays sizes go absolete with certain number and they do a new tool as an when it is required. If the size is close to the old ones certain materials can be reused.

What does a 'recycled' semiconductor get repurposed as? Or am I taking the term recycling too literally.

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions?
