ATLANTA -- The ECIA Electronic Components Council (ECC) provides a forum to develop and discuss industry business issues and develop best practices in operations, quality, management, marketing and communications strategies. The Council’s EDI Transactions Sets Committee recently reviewed several EDI Transactions and made modifications that simplify them by focusing on industry specific needs.
Committee Chair Bill Wray, Manager, Americas EDI Deployment, TE Connectivity indicated that, “With an eye toward simplicity, the goal of the committee’s work was to make it easier to implement EDI with new trading partners or streamline a new transaction with an existing partner. We want to encourage system-to-system transactions to automate the processes and reduce errors.”
Updated ANSI X12 transactions sets are available for download from the ECIA website and include the following: 850 Purchase Order, 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgement, 860 Purchase Order Change Request-Buyer Initiated, 865 Purchase Order Change Acknowledgement/Request-Seller Initiated. The review committee is comprised of representatives from Arrow Electronics, Avnet, Sager Electronics, TE Connectivity, Texas Instruments and TTI, Inc.
"The ECIA Council members did a great job in coming together as a team to review and simplify these core EDI transactions. When implemented by our trading partners, they will improve the overall ‘ease of doing business’ within the Supply Chain," said Deb Trout, Global Operational Excellence Leader for the TE Channel Business.
