Yeah, i think you are right about 3D especially when its prices begin to plummet.  3D printing may be a major boost for supply chain tech.

Yes, clothing manufacturers are using 3D printing, too. I saw some prototypes last year at the Design Museum exhibition on additive manufacturing in London.

I have been at a global supply chain confernece today and the speaker from Patagonia (the clothing manufacturer) mentioned 3D printing as being very important for them in creating models and prototypes. I'm sure the electronics industry can say the same.
