I have been noticing these ads for quite some time both on EETimes and EBN. Initially they were only on EETimes.

Given that the EBN stands for Electronic Business News, its focus is supposed to be the electronics industry by definition.

@Susan maybe it was an experiment across a few select boards, including EBN and EE.

Well, not anymore. I just went to EETimes and didn't see the pop-up. I believe it's better this way.

Hi, Ariella

EETimes has something like that; I haven't seen pop-up ads here. Maybe it was just for a few days? I believe it's more effective the ones around the board content.

@Susan I noticed the ads appearance in the last couple of week, but I don't recall what it was for. Today and yesterday when I came on the site, it launched without the popup ad. It's possible it was an experiment for the site or the advertiser to check if it is more effective that way than as something that appears around the board content.

Ariella,

EBN doesn't open with an ad for me. What ad are you talking about? Can it be that I miss the ads here, too? :D

I agree, Laurie. The ads shown on this website are applicable to the topics of this website. Hotels, or socks for that matter, may be applicable to everyone here, but are not any of the topics that this website is based around.

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions? Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
