@Clairvoyant,

Which means that we should expect PS2 to sill be around and relevant for some time to come despite the newer consoles released after it.

I think the Playstation 2 has been very successful for a number of reasons. At the time, it's competitors were Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Xbox, and Nintendo Gamecube. I'm not sure on numbers, but PS2 may have been outselling the other products at the time. The price point may have been another factor. The competitors of the PS3 are Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. Again, I'm not sure on numbers, but these products may be a harder competition against the PS3 than the other products were at the time of PS2.

Believe it or not, for some reason(s), the PlayStation 2 beat out all next generation consoles. It was discovered that 21.6% of all gaming time during was spent on the PS2.

The PS2 is nine years old, but remains the most used console on the market despite the fact that Sony had released PS3 for some times now.

What could be responsible for this despite the new technology and features of the PS3?

Could it be price factor or there is just so much love for the PS2?

Does that also mean that SONY still have the most popular and the best selling game console?

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions? Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
