Compartively there is not many break through technologies in pcb manufacturing. Most of the advancements are related to the process to use no lead and to produce halogen free pcb's. But on the other side semiconductor technologies going through a revolution with technologies like 3d manufacturing and TSV.

"Most of the companies are evaluating new surface finishes, especially electroless nickel, immersion palladium and immersion gold (ENIPIG)."

Where can we find more information about ENIPIG because it the first time that I read about these new technologies.

ENIPIG is new to me as well. Here is a bit of info on it: http://www.atotech.com/products/electronics/final-finishing/electroless-nickel-electroless-palladium-immersion-gold-enepig.html. Does anyone here have any access to papers written about the comparison of PCB finishes? I would be interested in having info like that all in one paper.

Is ENIPIG better to ENIG or does it olny have advantage of using less gold?
