Talking of the popularity that Qseven modules are achieving & trying to grab the momentum of it is much of a competitive task.

I came across iWave Systems which itself has developed a splendid taste for developing such Qseven standard SOMs.

Little to my surprise that this Standard merely 70mm x 70mm incorporates such high end features & also its swapping ability is a better replacement for obsolescense.

Heard about the recent accomplishment of iWave, thought to share it from my side.iWave has come up with another Q7 SoM besides i.MX51, Intel Atom, TI AM389x.

iWave Systems Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a leading Embedded Product Engineering Services provider launched the industry's first high performance i.MX6 Qseven SOM powered by Freescale's i.MX 6 Series 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A9 Quad/Dual/Solo core processor.

The module is Qseven R1.20 standard compliant and targets the Industrial, Automotive and Medical verticals.

Designed with a rich feature set, the i.MX6 Qseven module focuses on the high demand automotive infotainment (IVI) and Telematics market. Also the combination of high performance and low power makes it ideal for applications such as Advanced HMI, Video and Navigation, Portable Medical devices, Digital signage and Single Board SOC Computing.

  • The realization of SOM is incomplete without the exhibition of its potential.iWave has catapulted SOM usage showcase through i.MX6x Development Kit thereby speeding up the time to market for engineers wishing to use the new processor for their system development. The development kit includes the generic Q7 carrier board in Nano ITX form factor which supports all major interface connectors to evaluate the i.MX6 functionality.

Do watch the demo of the Module and Q7 Carrier board running Android 4.0.

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions? Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
