Anna, Samsung didn't just come out of the blues. It rose quickly in smartphones but it has been around for a while and its products are not direct copies of rival products.

I know Joe the plumber would like to make a difference in the U.S. Congress but even here he is vastly outnumbered. So, if he wins congressional seat he should bring more than a wrench and plumber's putty; lawyers outnumber any other group of professionals in Congress!

@Ashish I'd believe that about the lawyers outnumbering plumbers in DC. It could also be the case in NY!

Ariella,

That's primarily because America has the World's Largest Number of Lawyers(on a Per Capita Basis); If I remember correctly DCs Phone register has just three pages of Electricians and Plumbers but over 20 pages of Lawyers!!!

Its obvious with so many Lawyers around;Frivolous Lawsuits will definitely rise sharply.

I'm with the overwhelming majority here, having voted "no." Perhaps we even need a stock phrase like "Suers gonna sue."

Anna,

I don't dispute that one bit.

Samsung has worked very, very hard to set up their brand and visibility in the Global Smartphone marketplace.

I don't think for one instant they are gonna throw everything away simply because of one silly lawsuit. After all they did one another lawsuit in Japan last week.

Regards

Ashish.

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions? Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
