In my previous post dated 14 June 2012, I wrote that Kodak was planning to capitalise on its existing patents following its application for bankruptcy.
Kodak has now extended its deadline for bidding but surprisingly it has not announced the new deadline. The justification behind this secrecy, as told by Kodak, is the confidentiality agreements they have in place.
Apple and Google are competing against each other for the ownership of Kodak's patents. Technologists claim that as a result of the bidding process the total value of the patents could go as high as $2.6 Billion.
The sale of the patents has some complications due to claims of ownership from companies such as Apple, Samsung and Research in Motion.
This bidding process is not straightforward though. It seems there are problems related to patent breaches from a few big players. I guess the legal side of things need to be ironed out before Apple and Google can battle it out.
