I guess they have to do something. And that's what they're doing.

Out of sight, out of mind is what they're trying to avoid at this point.

@pocharle,

I agree with you on that, I wonder how Motorola want to go about things and win the market over after so long a time of little or no impact.

Good point, Pocharle. A good example of failure would be the Blackberry Playbook to combat the Apple IPad.

@pocharle

I see what you are saying. It is a tough competition out there and I cannot help thinking what innovation Motorola can possible come up with to turn a few heads after so long. I am a bit sceptical but curious at the same time.

"Motorola is preparing to catch up soon"

I'll believe it when I see it. When these manufacturers fall out of touch with consumers for so long, I find it hard to believe that they'll be back in the game with a splash hit.

I am excited to see what this new handset will have to offer. This may be just what Motorola needs.

Despite falling behind its competitors such as HTC, Apple and Samsung, Motorola is preparing to catch up soon. After its acquisition by Google for $12.5B a few months ago, Motorola is preparing to release its brand new model handset. The details of the handset have not been disclosed yet but is expected to make a big impact.

Google's acquisition of Motorola is expected to bring more Google-branded gadgets to the market soon.

Peter Drucker famously said "Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window." Yet in the razor's-edge world of electronics—with a lean supply chain and just-in-time demands—the need to know the future is vital. While no one really can accurately predict the future, we can take guidance from another Drucker saying which is the best way to predict the future is to create it.

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically. Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions? Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
