@Himanshugupta, I think that's changing. As I may have mentioned, I have a daughter heading off to college next year, which means i've had a bunch of opportunities to tour colleges recently. It seems like real-world research and the availability of internships has become real selling points for these educational instituions. I hope, in the not too distant future, that that translates into a much more experienced workforce coming into the pipe.

@Hospice, a degree probabaly goes a long way to getting you in the door... but it's certainly not going to keep you in the organizatoin if you don't prove yourself.

@Hailey, most students do not have industry experience and usually do not appreciate these questions as much as an experience professional do. But these questions will make student think on their feet and give answers which they cannot find on google.

@WaqasAltaf: We are living in a society where formal education is valued and those who graduate from prestigious schools are believed to be more skilled and competitive. But as you said, attending professional institutions doesn't equate to having an innovative mindset and creativity skills.

I loved your question about being hurt in the shop.  I suppose if you have never been hurt then you have never explored hard enough or maybe you're just brilliant and can foresee every outcome.

I like the idea of asking students to think...i'd also ask them "What do you see as the benefits and drawbacks of cross collaboration of this sort?"

Readers: what would you ask these students?

Yes, I agree with this thought that years of education from professional institutions is not the only way to make minds utilize for future ideas but rather practical implementation is important because this will help the innovative ideas to come out and the ability of competition arises in every individual.
