I think it's a nice way forward to get securityscheme wired to hardware design level. Yes, i agree with you on CPU shedding of processing tasks but integration as well other tasks it carries out very important, especially at middleware/firmware. In addition, bearing in mind the growth in cyber physical and IOT devices.

I can see the article mentioning a few cool things performed in hardware for highspeed performance and security such as  packet inspection at wire level and regular expression engine. These can help a lot in offloading in CPU computing power.

Data security is one of the biggest issues we all face these days.  It only takes a clever criminal to steal 1 cent from a 100M bank accounts and away ye go.  The hardware engineers and encryption algorithm developers will hopefully stay one step ahead of the criminals.  Unfortunately the latter are becoming increasingly more smart and sophisticated.  I think I will retire to a remote island with no technology and stop worrying about it ;-)
