@Eldgredge: Well I feel everybody would opt for simplicity when they select appliances since time is vital for anyone. The base behind using appliances is to save time.

@eldridge: Well true in a way but whats the point you opt for the basic ones when there are so many advanced options available in the market ?

Perhaps I am old school, but I generally look for simplicity in choices/operation and long term reliability when I consider appliances. While not always the case, too many options can go hand-in-hand with lower reliability.

It really looks impressive to gain creative ideas from customers because it will help companies to innovate a product which customers want and they feel easy to use. This will also make customers loyal to the brand.

In my opinion this is really a good initiative to encourage and harness the collective creativity.

A couple of years back , as a project guide for engineering students , I had suugested to create a frame work where all the home appliance will have a PC kind of architecture - They would only provide the drive electronics and a controller where the application drivers independently developed by third parties could be loaded by the consumers based upon their operational likings.

This approach is somewhat similar to this, I suppose.
