That is a fair(and accurate) Statement to make.

As Android's Popularity has risen;more and more Virus/Malware Writers have started writing Code Directed at it.

The way I look at it most modern Day OSes are reasonably secure(as long as they are patched);the vulnerabilities lie in the Extensions/Apps which may not be patched with the same Regularity(or have the same Security Resources) as the Big OS Companies.

I would say that it is not worse as what we have seen in windows based system and probably virus is coming hand by hand with popularity.

@T.alex, i agree that Andriod has picked up market shares due to fragmented software domain but unless Google plugs the security concerns the cosumers will be looking out for better OS.

@Hailley, the noticable OS that will be picking up shares is Windows. I think after Nokia's acquisition, Windows might further accelerate its market share growth. I own a Nokia smartphone and i find Window's interface quite appealing. 

Also, who are others? Is Samsung's Tizen one of them?
