Is Outsourcing Dead?
Date: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 Time: 8:00am PT/11:00am ET Overview: The booming pace of outsourcing witnessed in the last decades appears to be slowing as manufacturers factor metrics like total cost of ownership into their outsourcing decisions. In cases, some are not only holding back on outsourcing and offshoring but are even pulling these back in-house. This tells only part of the story. Outsourcing is a complex subject and the decisions associated with it are equally complicated. Yet, it is a mission-critical operational strategy that manufacturers must get right. To help manufacturers get a good handle on the current outsourcing situation, Avnet and EBN will present a webinar titled "Is Outsourcing Dead" on February 19th 2013. Wade McDaniel, VP of solutions architecture at Avnet Velocity offers insights and best practices on the subject of outsourcing in a changing global market. He will focus on the following questions:

You've heard the saying "the No. 1 supply chain risk is your people." That hasn't always been the case. But today's complex global supply chain requires a new type of multitalented employee. It's one who understands, finance, marketing, economics, is savvy with technology, graceful with relationships and can think analytically.
Where are these people? Are universities properly preparing the next generation supply chain professionals? How do train your existing workforce for these new, demanding positions?
Brian Fuller, editor-in-chief of EBN, will lead a 60-minute Avnet Velocity panel discussion that will ask and answer these and other questions swirling around today's supply-chain talent challenges.
