AMD Appoints VP for Latin America

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced today Ronaldo Miranda, 50, will join the company effective April 4 as vice president and general manager for AMD's Latin America region. In this role, Miranda is responsible for all of AMD's business and operations in Brazil, Mexico, South and Central America and the Caribbean. He brings more than 27 years of experience in successfully managing sales and business operations at various technology companies in Latin America.

“Ronaldo is a highly talented sales executive with a track record of implementing strategies and leading teams to successfully drive growth in the region,” said Emilio Ghilardi, senior vice president and chief sales officer, AMD. “His knowledge and experience in the market make him an ideal candidate to lead AMD's business in Latin America.”

Most recently, Miranda was vice president for Samsung's IT product division in Brazil where he was responsible for product definition and planning, marketing, sales and brand positioning. Miranda also spent 10 years with Intel and established its channel organization in Brazil. In addition, he has worked for Texas Instruments and Itautec.

Miranda has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidade de Mogi das Cruzes and a master's degree in business from Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing.

He and his family will reside in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Miranda replaces Hans Erickson who has been named AMD's vice president, Worldwide Business Management (WBM), based in Austin, Texas. The WBM team is responsible for various aspects of sales operations and business planning. Erickson will remain in Brazil through April to ensure a smooth transition with Miranda.
