ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) has introduced the Nitrogen 6X, the first Freescale i.MX6-based development kit by Boundary Devices.

Arrow customers will have early access to the new multicore multimedia applications processor from Freescale, the i.MX6. The development board will be software compatible with the existing Freescale software releases. With a wide variety of software partners already supporting the Nitrogen6X, Arrow offers a complete hardware and software solution to the industrial, medical and multimedia based applications.

“At Arrow, we have a history of driving innovation forward with the latest technology from leading partners like Freescale,” said David West, vice president of supplier marketing and asset management at Arrow Electronics. “Given Arrow will be the sole distributor for the Nitrogen6X, our customers will have first access to the latest multicore processor.”

“Featuring a wider and faster memory bus (64-bit DDR3 1066), integrated HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and additional display channels with a high level of integration, the Nitrogen6X has been designed to harness the extreme versatility of the ARM Cortex-A9 based i.MX6 processor,” said Eric Nelson, Vice President of Boundary Devices. “Boundary Devices is proud to partner with Arrow to launch its Nitrogen 6X development kit to kick start development and provide desktop levels of performance in a tiny footprint.”
