Interesting post... I think most people are increasingly becoming aware of the impact of data, the insight it provides and its timely usefulness. Among my friends and relatives who use smartphones and are not that tech savvy, I have been asked questions like how one can get so much information at the tap of an icon on a phone screen -like geotags with embedded real time information on a map. I take pride in explaining how it is done!

As data sets grow in size warranting many new words (Zettabyte, Yottabyte to Hellabyte which is 1x1027bytes!), engineers and data scientists are becoming increasingly efficient and judicious about its use. Search, sort and processing techniques will continue to improve but I think the discussion should now focus on criteria for the foregoing.
