Avnet’s Fay Makes ‘Pros to Know’ List

PHOENIX — Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that chief global logistics and operations officer Gerry Fay was recognized as a 2012 Provider Pros to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive. Pros to Know is an annual listing of the top supply and demand chain industry professionals. This is the fifth time an Avnet executive has made this distinguished list of supply chain professionals.

The Pros to Know list recognizes supply chain executives in manufacturing and non-manufacturing enterprises who are leading initiatives to help prepare their companies’ supply chains for the significant challenges of today’s business climate. In addition, the 2012 Provider Pros to Know recognizes individuals from software firms and service providers, consultancies or academia, who have helped their supply chain clients or the supply chain community prepare to meet industry challenges. Supply & Demand Chain Executive received more than 300 entries for the 2012 Pros to Know Award. These men and women are helping the supply chain to be increasingly recognized as a strategic differentiator crucial to meeting the challenges of the “new normal.”

Fay joined Avnet in 2005 when the company acquired electronic component distributor Memec. During that time he was senior vice president of global strategic accounts for Avnet United. In that role, Fay led the expansion of key account programs designed to provide global support services to customers. He also created Avnet Velocity, Avnet’s global supply chain solutions business which helps customers plan, manage and operate complex supply chains. As the chief global logistics and operations officer, Fay currently is responsible for global warehousing, semiconductor programming and computer integration center services. Fay also continues to lead Avnet Velocity, and is responsible for the corporate operational excellence initiative.
