ATLANTA, Ga. — The Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) is pleased to announce that Digi-Key Corporation is the first company to sign on as a sponsor of its industry-owned and managed inventory search website.
The site provides authorized inventory only. Customers looking to avoid gray market and counterfeit product now have a site that only lists inventory that is genuine and backed by the manufacturer’s warranty. It is a key component in the association’s efforts to fight the sale of counterfeit parts, providing customers with a secure site to find authorized product. All sales are completed through the distributor’s site with no inventory offered through the association’s site.
“Digi-Key strongly supports the Electronic Components Industry Association’s (ECIA) decision to establish a website (www.eciaauthorized.com) limited to product sold by authorized distributors”, said Digi-Key’s President Mark Larson. “The site represents a major step forward in protecting buyers from counterfeit product. There is no other site like it in the industry. Design engineers and professional purchasers have to know that the product they purchase is not counterfeit. There are two ways to be assured that product is not counterfeit…purchase directly from the manufacturer or purchase directly from an authorized distributor. The site requires that distributors only list product for lines for which they are authorized and purchase directly from the manufacturer.”
