Digilent, Avnet Have Distribution Pact

PHOENIX — Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced that it has added Digilent, Inc., a leading manufacturer of Xilinx development boards, programming cables and embedded programming solutions, to its Americas offering. Digilent’s wide range of low-cost development boards augments Avnet’s existing Xilinx offering and provides customers with access to programming cables and embedded programming modules to jump-start new designs. Digilent products are available from an Avnet representative, or online from Avnet Express, Avnet’s e-Commerce engine.

Digilent’s wide range of products includes the HS1, a high-speed, Joint Test Action Group (JTAG) programming cable that enables programming and debugging of Xilinx FPGAs. The Digilent HS1 can drive the JTAG/SPI bus at up to 30Mbi/sec and is fully supported by the Xilinx® ISE Design Suite 13.2 and later software tools.

Additionally, Digilent offers the SMT1, a high-speed, surface-mount programming module, that is fully supported by the Xilinx tools and Digilent’s own Adept software development kit, allowing for custom JTAG applications to be created.

“Partnering with Avnet will greatly increase our mutual customers’ exposure to our Xilinx FPGA development kits and programming solutions,” said Clint Cole, president of Digilent, Inc. “We look forward to working together to help solve the complex programming needs of today’s engineer.”

“The addition of Digilent allows Avnet the opportunity to offer a wide range of low-cost development boards to our customers,” said Alex Iuorio, senior vice president of supplier marketing, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Being able to offer these useful and cost-effective tools to our programmable logic and embedded customers will move more innovative technology to market faster.”
