Atlanta, GA – The first quarter global passive sales data by region has been compiled and analyzed. Sales of passive components (capacitors, inductors and resistors) for Q1 2016 were down 1.1% compared to Q4 2015 and down 5.1% compared to Q1 2015. Capacitor sales were down 0.3% and 5.3% respectively, Inductors down 7.5% and down 6.1% and resistors up 3.6% and down 2%.
Although one quarter does not make a year, an examination of the trends from last year, through the first quarter of this year would suggest a 3.7% decline in global passive sales for 2016 with capacitors down 3.5%, Inductors down 6.5% and resistors down 0.5%. Estimated global passive sales for 2016 is $20.8 billion compared to sales of 2015 of $21.5 billion.
