ATLANTA — The Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) will host the 2012 World Capacitor/Resistor/Inductor Trade Statistics meetings April 10-11 at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center, National Harbor, Washington, DC. The World Meetings are held bi-annually and hosted in rotation by the three regions – America, Europe, and Asia. The World Meetings last came to Washington in April 2006. Members of the ECIA Passive Components Market Services (PCMS) group and participants in capacitor, resistor and inductor reports will attend and be joined by their counterparts from Europe and Japan.
This year The Americas and KEMET Electronics will offer a special session on “World Market for Electronic Components” presented by IHS/iSuppli. This session will feature current market trends for electronic components, both passive and active, plus forecasts for opportunities and new markets in the international marketplace.
“These World Meetings demonstrate a unique cooperation among major companies in the international electronic components community,” says Jim Bruorton, KEMET Electronics and WCTS Chairman, The Americas. “The meetings offer a one of a kind opportunity for the three regions to discuss common goals and issues in the industry. This special session provides a baseline for many of these discussions.”
The World Capacitor Trade Statistics (WCTS) program was formed in August, 1986 primarily for the purpose of collecting and disseminating monthly statistics on world shipments of electronic capacitors. Five years later, the World Resistor Trade Statistics (WRTS) program was formed in October, 1991 primarily for the purpose of collecting and disseminating monthly statistics on world shipments of electronic resistors. Recent meetings have included initial work on a World Inductor Statistics (WITS) program. These combined programs publish the World Capacitor Trade Statistics (WCTS) report monthly and the World Resistor Trade Statistics and the World Inductor Trade Statistics reports quarterly.
