The Electronics Representatives Association (ERA) has announced that its 48th Management and Marketing Conference, scheduled Feb. 26-28, 2017, in Austin, Texas, will feature a general session presentation by Michael Knight, senior vice president for the Americas, TTI, Inc.
Knight will deliver the conference closing general session on Tuesday, Feb. 28, titled “DO ROBOTS POOP? Technology's Impact and Influence on the Evolution of Human Life.” The session will explore how today's series of technology advances will impact the future of the electronics industry.
According to Knight, the tech industry has been in a rut since coming out of the great recession in 2008. While there have been big events in technology that have fueled explosive periods of growth in the past, the reality is that it isn't likely to be one big event that triggers the next hot market. He believes that it is going to be many, many small events strung together over time that are going to drive the electronics industry forward.
ERA CEO Walter E. Tobin comments on the relevance of Knight's presentation for conference attendees: “Today, technological advances are rapidly making it possible to automate much of the work currently carried out by humans. It is challenging to predict how the wide application of these technologies will impact the economy and our industry. We are very excited to have Michael Knight deliver the conference closing general session. He is a highly engaging speaker, and we look forward to his insights on what the future has in store for our industry.
Holly Myers, CPMR, of Wallace Electronic Sales, Inc., chair of the 2017 Conference Committee, adds, “One of ERA's primary goals is to educate its members on current and future industry issues and trends. The conference committee is positive that Michael's presentation will offer attendees invaluable information on the upcoming changes in our industry's business models and the path to market for electronic components.
The ERA Conference will be held at the AT&T Executive Education Conference Center in Austin. The conference program brochure is due to be released on Nov. 4, 2016. Visit era.org for online conference registration, sponsorship opportunities and updates about the event.
