In the latest of a flurry of leadership changes at distribution giant Avnet, Gerry Fay has announced that he will be leaving his position as president of Avnet Electronics Marketing (EM) after 12 years with the company.
He will be pursuing external opportunities, Avnet said. Fay will be staying with the company for some period of time to ease the transition. In the wake of Fay’s imminent departure, the company has also announced some other leadership and organizational changes.
Now, the company’s regional presidents will report directly to Avnet CEO William Amelio. “Avnet has a long history of adapting to change while staying focused on helping our customers bring new products to market,” said Amelio. “Our business strategy is undergoing a transformation, and we have strong leaders in place to deliver on this strategy.”
As global president of Avnet EM since 2013, Fay has been responsible for the operating group's strategic direction, day-to-day operations and global performance of the group. “During the past 12 years, Gerry has contributed immeasurably to Avnet,” Amelio said. The region, which includes all the Americas, sells electronic components (semiconductors, IP&E), embedded solutions, and associated design chain and supply chain services.
