Based on TI's seventh-generation Bluetooth core, the SimpleLink™ CC256x dual mode device is a complete Bluetooth Basic Rate (BR)/Enhanced Data Rate (EDR)/Low Energy (LE) HCI or Bluetooth + Bluetooth Low Energy solution. The CC25x integrates the Bluetooth processor and coprocessor, a digital RF processor, and clock and power management functions all into a single IC. When coupled with a microcontroller, the CC256x offers best-in-class RF performance and offers twice the range than most existing Bluetooth low energy solutions.
The Texas Instruments CC256x Bluetooth 4.0 Controller, available from Mouser Electronics, is a robust, high throughput Bluetooth controller with extended range and multiple low power modes. Engineered for long battery life and ease of design, the CC256x provides significant power savings in all Bluetooth BR/EDR/LE modes of operation. The device offers flexible and easy stack integration and is compatible with most microcontrollers, including the TI MSP430™ and ARM® Cortex-M4 MCUs. Supported Bluetooth profiles include serial port profile (SPP), human interface device (HID), A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) and several Bluetooth low energy profiles.
