Mitsubishi Expanding TFT Sales Efforts

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc.’s Semiconductor Division (“Mitsubishi Electric US”) has announced a major initiative to expand sales efforts in North and South America for its industrial TFT LCD display products. This announcement follows the acquisition by Kyocera Corporation of Optrex Corporation, one of Mitsubishi Electric US’ distributors for industrial TFT displays.

Effective immediately, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will replace Optrex’ sales structure in North and South America with Mitsubishi Electric US’ sales and customer support network.

“Mitsubishi Electric has many years of experience selling its LCD products in the Americas and has a strong, well-established infrastructure to support our customers’ needs,” said Daniel Chen, general manager, LCD Products, Mitsubishi Electric US.

Mitsubishi Electric US’ parent company, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, has been supplying industrial TFT displays to Optrex since April 2002, according to the terms of a supply agreement. With Kyocera’s acquisition of Optrex, the parties will terminate the supply agreement effective September 30, 2012.

Ikuo Ogo, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s deputy general manager for TFT LCD display marketing, said, “Our top priority is to support all of our customers with an uninterrupted supply of TFT displays while providing the same level of high-quality professional technical support.”

All North and South American customers can place orders for industrial TFT displays with Mitsubishi Electric US’ network of manufacturers’ representatives, Value Added Resellers (VARs) or distributors, which are listed at
