ROCHESTER, N.Y. , July 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Vuzix® Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), a leading supplier of Smart Glasses, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies and products for the consumer and enterprise markets, is pleased to announce that Ubimax, a leading supplier for industrial wearable computing solutions, has joined the Vuzix Industrial Partner (VIP) program. As one of the first to join this by-invitation only program, Ubimax's designation as a VIP signals the first European shipments of Vuzix next generation M300 Smart Glasses. Early access has enabled Ubimax to integrate the M300's leading edge capabilities with its market leading enterprise solutions and soon showcase it to their many customers across a wide range of industrial sectors.
Known for pioneering smart glasses in the logistics industry with the now famous DHL deployment of xPick on Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses, Ubimax has grown to include the worldwide first Enterprise Wearable Computing Suite of industrial applications including xMake for manufacturing, xInspect for maintenance, and xAssist for remote assistance. These proven solutions have led to over 100 Ubimax smart glasses deployments for some of the world's largest companies such as Daimler, Samsung, or Volkswagen. Ubimax will seek to leverage the new Vuzix M300 Smart Glasses to scale many existing productive deployments of its large client base into global roll-outs in 2016 and 2017.
“We are proud to be one of the first companies asked to join the Vuzix Industrial Partner program and to receive early access to port our solutions to the new Vuzix M300,” commented Dr. Hendrik Witt , CEO of Ubimax. “Many of our clients have committed to scaling globally once a hardware device that truly meets the demanding industry requirements becomes commercially available. With the improvements to the ergonomics, ruggedness, and feature set, we believe the new Vuzix M300 is the device the market was waiting for. And the channel support we will receive as a Vuzix VIP will certainly help Ubimax as we currently grow our operations in the European, U.S. and Mexican markets with more and more ongoing projects and deployments in these regions.”
In 2016 the most widely used vision picking solution xPick was successfully implemented with Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses to deliver effective solutions to customers internationally, including DHL, one of the world's largest logistics company, who's well documented pilot program drove a 25% increase in efficiency using this solution. DHL has moved towards broader implementation at additional sites worldwide.
