Peregrine Adds to Board

SAN DIEGO — Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance radio-frequency (RF) integrated circuits (ICs), today announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors. Intellectual property (IP) expert Carl Schlachte and former Qualcomm president and chief operating officer Anthony (Tony) Thornley bring broad experience and expertise in the areas of global IP/patent licensing and growth-company executive leadership to Peregrine’s nine-member board.

Mr. Schlachte serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of privately held Ventiva Corporation, a thermal management company, and is also Chairman of MOSAID (TSX:MSD), one of the world’s leading IP companies. Mr. Thornley joined Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) in 1994 as Chief Financial Officer, and throughout his 11-year career with the company served as Chief Financial and Operating Officer and eventually as President and Chief Operating Officer.

“Carl and Tony each have led very successful careers with technology-rich companies and offer exceptional know-how to the Peregrine board,” said Jim Cable, Chief Executive Officer of Peregrine. “Carl’s vast experience in semiconductor intellectual property and licensing, coupled with Tony’s broad experience as an executive leader in a high-growth tech company and director experience at a number of public companies make them great additions to our board. It is an ideal time to add their strengths as we take Peregrine into the future.”

From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Schlachte was President and Chief Executive Officer of ARC International (LSE:ARK), a provider of configurable processor technology to semiconductor companies worldwide. He has more than twenty five years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including CEO roles at global fabless semiconductor and IP companies and executive positions at Motorola and ARM Holdings plc. At ARM, he established its North American operations and secured strategic relationships with semiconductor and system companies in the United States. Mr. Schlachte received a B.S. from Clemson University.

Prior to joining Qualcomm, Mr. Thornley spent 16 years with Nortel Networks, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, in various financial and information systems management positions including Vice President Finance and IS, Public Networks; and Vice President, Finance NT World Trade and Corporate Controller of Nortel Ltd. Mr. Thornley serves as a director of several technology and software companies, including Cavium Networks Inc., a semiconductor company enabling intelligent network applications; Proximetry, Inc., a network software company; Public Wireless Inc., a wireless infrastructure company; and Basho Technologies Inc., a database software company. He is also a director of Callaway Golf Inc. and Transdel Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mr. Thornley received his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester, England and qualified as a chartered accountant in England and Wales.

Messrs. Thornley and Schlachte fill positions previously held by long-time Peregrine board members Allan Aaron and Tim Downing, whose board service concluded in early November 2010. “We are grateful for the contributions both Allan and Tim have made throughout the past 8 years,” Cable added.
