Perfect Parts, an independent electronics distributor founded in 2013, has launched an online catalog of electronic components calling it the world's largest online catalog and collection of electronic parts information available today. The database contains more than 425 million unique electronic parts across over 400 electronic product categories, the company said.
“Today, OEMs, contract manufacturers, and electronic design manufacturers have to go to many different sources to get both quality products and the technical information they need for both demand planning and production scheduling” Lulu Jaff, vice president of product sales at Perfect Parts told EBN in an exclusive interview. “We want to offer these customers better services by giving them the power to locate more accurate solutions faster in order to help them adhere to rigorous demand planning and scheduling.”
The catalog, which is powered by CAPS Universe from IHS, spans electromechanical, interconnects, passives, semiconductors, and other electronic components from over 4,000 global manufacturers. Component manufacturers can list additional product information and up-to-date inventory, lead-times, and available factory stock on the business-to-business portal, as well. “At launch, the catalog will offer more SKUs than Amazon's entire catalog and is 100% comprised of electronic components,” Jaff said. “In addition, we offer high quality technical information and market insight in regards to those parts.”
Perfect Parts, meanwhile, will offer component manufacturers extended marketing capabilities, distribution support, customer technical support, demand, advanced scheduling, analytic information on the interest that has been generated by their products, and other services.
“Both the data and customer information is protected from unauthorized use. Our focus is to keep a high level of information, customer retention, and satisfaction,” said Jaff. “Our goal is to go above and beyond what any distributor currently offers in the market. Our objectives have always been to fully support both the customer and the manufacturer.”
The distributor is hoping to help provide electronics purchasers and design engineers the information they need for design and sourcing decisions, including datasheets; Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN); harmonization codes; full parametric data; environmental information; alternate products; life cycle; conflict mineral information; product and process change notification (PCN) and end-of-life (EOL) notifications, packaging information, and more. The site will support a variety of world languages as well. IHS, meanwhile, always adheres to the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system standard, which calls for regular audits of their information for accuracy, as well as, strict monitoring of the top 500 manufacturers and that information is available real-time.
Users will be allowed to access information based upon a tiered membership structure:
- Public visitors, who provide no personal information, can see basic information about what parts Perfect Parts has available, data sheets, pricing, locate new products, and see what lines are being added. They can also sign up for newsletter updates etc.
- Registered users, have access to everything in tier 1 and full access to the company's bill of materials (BOM) manager, and other search functionality tools.
- Platinum members, which includes existing customers or potential customers, have added access to value added services such as full bill of materials (BOM) analysis for cost reduction, supply chain management, planning, component sourcing, and reverse logistics.
Today, the company is authorized for three franchised lines, but intends to add many new lines this year in order to add more value to their catalog for customers. To avoid cross contamination and quell users concerns, the distributor stocks both authorized and independent stock in two separate facilities, Jaff said. “Once we become authorized for a particular product or component manufacturer, we restrict sales from the open market.” she added.
As audacious as the launch plan seems, the company said that it isn't planning to sit on its laurels. “We think we can change the way the industry does business by introducing new solutions,” said Jaff. “What we are doing is not common. Our goal is to help manufacturers, customers, and the electronic industry by providing our support and aiming for the greater good.”
In the coming months, the distributor intends to add even more parts, as well as purchasing tools, e-commerce capabilities, product images, and pricing information in multiple world currencies. The company expects to release pricing information in the next month.
