Tom Murphy, Group Managing Editor of UBM DeusM, has helped define interactive media for more than two decades as writer, editor, manager, and entrepreneur. He has reported extensively about technology and business since 1980, including the growth of semiconductors, software as a service, enterprise computing, the Internet, personal computing, mobile, digital marketing, analytics, and other technologies that have emerged and evolved during that time.  Tom has worked in sales, public relations, and marketing in addition to his extensive work in journalism. He has also hosted many webinars, webcasts, and live video broadcasts, and he has held several management posts where he led dozens of employees across large geographic regions.

Tom is the author of the book Web Rules: How the Internet is Changing the Way Consumers Make Choices. He led coverage of technology and business on a global basis as editor-in-chief for RedHerring.com and Montgomery Research. Tom was founding managing editor of MarketWatch.com, the first Bloomberg News correspondent in Northern California, and a Northern California news desk supervisor for The Associated Press.

A strong believer in community service, he's the founder of the award-winning community nonprofit news Newswire21.org and the over-40 community RedwoodAge.com, both of which blend social media theory with the best practices of traditional journalism. Find him at: LinkedIn.com/In/EditorTomMurphy
