RS Partners With IOS on Direct Mail

OXFORD, England — RS Components (RS), the world's leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products and the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), has joined forces with direct mail expert, Innovative Output Solutions (IOS), to improve the accuracy, fulfilment and delivery of its customer publications across the UK and Europe.

The move was made following a review of business services by the RS European Marketing team. Tasked with identifying areas for improvement, the team found that both new and existing customers across the region would benefit from one supplier offering both direct mail fulfilment and delivery, rather than the various local suppliers used previously. This initiative reinforces the company's 'One Europe' strategy, which enables, amongst other key changes, a common marketing approach across the region.

Two areas of the RS business – Media Publishing Process (MPP) and Indirect Procurement – collaborated to source a direct mail business that could not only manage data, but work seamlessly to deliver the RS publications to customers across the markets. RS set stringent criteria covering quality, value, innovation, service, compatibility and continuation of supply.

Following an initial trial with IOS, we have seen significant improvements in this area and are confident that our customers will be pleased with the enhanced service. We also anticipate cost savings by transferring from several suppliers to just one covering the entire region.”

IOS is now responsible for the direct mail service of RS publications such as eTech and Stars, plus other information sent to new and existing customers. IOS is able to manage both the packaging fulfilment requirements, such as wrapping and labelling, as well as maintaining the customer database to further increase delivery accuracy.
