Engineers quietly toiling to deliver high-speed systems gathered to showcase their latest accomplishments at last week's DesignCon here, some setting new watermarks with 100 Gbit/s Ethernet backplanes and 100 GHz-class testers.
We toured the show floor looking for examples of their accomplishments as well as a few fun moments. Rachael Lee (below), a senior field account executive for Microlease, hit the latter target with her nerf gun game designed to attract engineers to eyeball the company's line of test gear. The 100 GHz LabMaster shown in slide 4 is an impressive device – I would like to have had access to it in a former job.
Given the rapid rise of IoT as well as mobile devices, 100G is very crucial to the next step of development.
