HOUSTON — Smith & Associates, the industry leader in global electronics distribution, today announced the appointment of Todd Traylor to the role of Vice President of Global Trading. Todd will be responsible for helping manage all aspects of Smith’s global trading programs and initiatives. Todd assumes his new role immediately and reports to Marc Barnhill, Smith’s Chief Trading Officer.
Todd joined Smith and Associates in 1997 and began his career as a member of the OEM sales team. Since then he has made tremendous contributions to the company across a variety of roles. Shortly after onboarding, Todd was promoted to Trading Manager, and then to General Manager of Smith’s Amsterdam headquarters in 2001. Shortly thereafter, Todd was elevated to the position of Managing Director of Smith Europe in 2002. Spearheading the CPU Commodity program, he then returned to Houston and was named CPU Commodity Manager in 2003, which allowed him to become a key figure in further developing Smith’s customer base and CPU service programs.
An alumnus of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Todd has served on the Council of Athletic Ambassadors for the 12th Man Foundation for nearly a decade. Prior to joining Smith, Todd gained valuable industry experience working with Electronic Data Systems in the Dallas area.
“During his tenure with Smith, Todd has proven to be an outstanding leader and has played an essential role in Smith’s growth and is one of the reasons why Smith has earned the reputation as the world’s premier independent distributor,” said Barnhill. “Todd has demonstrated a willingness to continually grow in his areas of expertise, and we look forward to utilizing his knowledge and experience to refine Smith’s trading capabilities on a global level.”
“I welcome the opportunities that this new position presents, and look forward to helping Smith continue to provide customers with the best service, most knowledgeable traders, and most trusted quality programs anywhere on the market,” Traylor said. “Our industry presents us with terrific opportunities every day, and Smith is well positioned and headed in the right direction to take advantage of these challenges. I am surrounded by a focused and dedicated group of traders, and we will continue to demonstrate why Smith is the number one independent distributor of semiconductors in the world.”
